Finally an official version of WhatsApp for the iPad!

To say I'm overjoyed that finally we have an official version of WhatsApp for the iPad would be an understatement. I love my iPad Pro using it reading, watching and doing lots of tasks. But ..... largely because of my South African family and friends, where WhatsApp tends to be our primary communications tool and it a niggle that I couldn't access it (fully) from the iPad. Also, due to us adopting WhatsApp for the delivery of material and events to seniors as part of our initiative to upskill seniors digital  skills.

So when I read about the new fully  functioning app, I couldnt wait to download the app.

Here are five key advantages of having an official WhatsApp app for iPad:

  • Optimised User Experience – The app is designed specifically for iPads, taking advantage of the larger screen with a two-column layout that makes navigating chats and conversations smoother.
  • Multitasking Features – WhatsApp for iPad supports iPadOS multitasking capabilities like Split View, Slide Over, and Picture in Picture, allowing users to keep WhatsApp open while working in other apps.
  • Enhanced Calling Features – Users can make voice and video calls with up to 32 participants, integrating with both front and rear cameras for a seamless communication experience.
  • Improved Privacy and Security – The app ensures end-to-end encryption across devices, keeping personal messages, calls, and media secure, just like on other platforms.
  • Standalone Functionality – Unlike previous workarounds that required WhatsApp Web, the official app allows iPad users to use WhatsApp independently without needing to keep their phone connected.

UFO Spotted on my WhatsApp Screen

This morning I woke up to an invasion of my WhatsApp screen, well slight exaggeration it was a floating circle, and as a curious person I had to click on it! Yes, Meta have assumed I want another AI tool and so I consulted my Favourite AI, CoPilot (not biased in any way!) and asked a few questions. Q: What's that blue dot on my WhatsApp Screen?
