Apple Tip #2 - Using Dictation and Easy Editing

Catching up with the young ones!

As we age it becomes harder to use the little keyboard that pops up on our iPhones. We watch the young ones in our families, using their thumbs to type and we marvel at the speed with which they do it. The good news is, with a bit of practise at dictation, you too can type at speed!

Quick Guide: Easy Typing on iPhone for Seniors

Using Voice Dictation & Space Bar for Editing

🗣 Step 1: Use Voice Dictation to Type

Instead of struggling with small keys, you can speak to type!

1️⃣ Open Messages, Notes, or any app where you type.
2️⃣ Tap the microphone icon on the keyboard (bottom right).
3️⃣ Speak clearly—say your message out loud.
4️⃣ Tap the microphone when finished.

💡 Tip: You can say punctuation aloud!
Example: “Hello comma how are you question mark”Hello, how are you?

✏️ Step 2: Edit Text Using the Space Bar Trick

If you make a mistake, don’t struggle to tap the tiny letters—use this trick!

1️⃣ Press and hold the space bar on the keyboard.
2️⃣ The keyboard turns into a trackpad—your finger moves the cursor!
3️⃣ Slide your finger to the mistake and fix it easily.

💡 Tip: No need to tap exactly where the mistake is—just glide to it!
