Thank you kind friends for agreeing to be our pilot group in our Digital Skills 4 Seniors project. I've recorded a video to explain a little bit more of our thinking. 

WHY 

To help seniors find joy in the ever increasing digital world

HOW

  • Establishing a team of tech savvy seniors who are prepared to help others through smaller action learning groups
  • Curating a regular flow of hints, tips and ideas in a suitable format for seniors
  • Providing access to workshops, clinics and one-to-ones, either online or face-to-face to help implement the hints and tips
WHAT
  • A WhatsApp Community that 'announces' learning material
  • Smaller Action Learning Groups that helps implement the 'announced' digital advice/ideas/skills
CURRENT REALITY
  • The tech savvy team will be Ingrid and I 
  • The Action Learning Group will be you lovely people
  • Once you have completed the form that Ingrid will send to you, we will prepare the first fun workshop to meet your needs
  • We will run the project with you for three months and then decide what to do next

Accelerated by the pandemic, so much of getting things done in today’s world is via digital. Sadly, us senior citizens tend to fall behind in this brave new world. The reason why To survive in today's world you need to be digital savvy, and the harsh reality is many seniors struggle in this area. They can often do the basics, but are rapidly being left behind due to the pace of tech change! Seniors often encounter digital challenges due to evolving technology and complex interfaces. Many struggle with unfamiliar devices, online security risks, and rapidly changing platforms. Limited digital literacy can make tasks like online banking, social media, or healthcare access difficult. Additionally, small fonts, touchscreens, and fast-paced updates can create barriers.  It’s a Team Effort I decided coming into 2025 that I wanted to make a difference in this area. UFO Spotted on my WhatsApp Screen

This morning I woke up to an invasion of my WhatsApp screen, well slight exaggeration it was a floating circle, and as a curious person I had to click on it! Yes, Meta have assumed I want another AI tool and so I consulted my Favourite AI, CoPilot (not biased in any way!) and asked a few questions. Q: What's that blue dot on my WhatsApp Screen? That new blue circle on WhatsApp is the Meta AI shortcut—a chatbot integrated into the app that can answer questions, generate content, and provide recommendations. It’s Meta’s version of an AI assistant, similar to ChatGPT, and has recently rolled out in the UK. Q: Is it any good? Meta AI on WhatsApp has been met with **mixed reviews**.
