UFO Spotted on my WhatsApp Screen

This morning I woke up to an invasion of my WhatsApp screen, well slight exaggeration it was a floating circle, and as a curious person I had to click on it!


Yes, Meta have assumed I want another AI tool and so I consulted my Favourite AI, CoPilot (not biased in any way!) and asked a few questions.

Q: What's that blue dot on my WhatsApp Screen?

That new blue circle on WhatsApp is the Meta AI shortcut—a chatbot integrated into the app that can answer questions, generate content, and provide recommendations. It’s Meta’s version of an AI assistant, similar to ChatGPT, and has recently rolled out in the UK.

Q: Is it any good?

Meta AI on WhatsApp has been met with **mixed reviews**. Some users appreciate its ability to answer questions, generate content, and provide recommendations, but others find it **intrusive** and frustrating because it **cannot be removed**.  

Critics say it **misunderstands queries**, contradicts itself, and lacks the refinement of other AI assistants like ChatGPT. Privacy concerns have also been raised, as chats with Meta AI **are not end-to-end encrypted**, unlike regular WhatsApp messages.  

If you’re looking for a **basic AI assistant** within WhatsApp, it might be useful. But if you prefer a **clean, distraction-free messaging experience**, it may feel like an unnecessary addition.  

Q: How can I get rid of it?

Unfortunately, you can’t remove it—there’s no official way to disable the feature. Some users have found it intrusive, especially since it sits in the bottom-right corner of chats and is also integrated into the search bar. If you accidentally interact with it, the best option is to delete the chat afterward (swipe left on the chat, tap "More," then "Delete Chat").
